Under the thematic focus “Performing Environments!”, Kunst im öffentlichen Raum Tirol 2027 is seeking site-specific interventions that use performance to connect their physical surroundings with collective memories and subjective narratives. In this context, public space—whether rural or urban—should be understood not only as a stage but also as an active counterpart.
Whether through gestures that accompany our daily lives, shape realities and the public sphere, or initially activate spaces, the connection between performance and place can be expressed through a wide variety of artistic practices. For its annual program, the “Art in Public Spaces Tyrol” funding initiative invites artistic interventions, performances, and sound works to open up new perspectives on the interplay between body, space, and identity, and to redefine public space as a vibrant, multifaceted space of experience.
