Work grants for contemporary printmakers

The idea

The Museum für Druckkunst and the Giesecke+Devrient Foundation are offering three scholarships for artists who have completed their artistic studies. The four-week scholarships with compulsory residency at the Museum für Druckkunst are intended for artistic development in the field of printmaking (relief and intaglio printing).
With these scholarships, the Museum für Druckkunst and the Giesecke+Devrient Foundation are making a contribution to the promotion of individual artists in the field of printmaking.

The participants

Applications for the four-week work scholarships are open to visual artists working in the field of printmaking who wish to deepen their artistic knowledge or work on a project (e.g. working on a specific theme, exploring new/other working techniques, etc.). Applicants should have a degree from an art and/or design college. The framework: Provisions and services for the duration of four weeks, the workshops of the Museum für Druckkunst are available to the scholarship holder in the field of letterpress printing and drypoint etching; collotype, lithography and screen printing are not possible. Technical staff are on site to provide support as required. Larger projects and print runs only by prior arrangement. The scholarship includes a lump sum of €2,200. Material, travel and accommodation costs are covered by this lump sum. The scholarship is linked to a residency requirement of 20 days, preferably at a time. The scholarships will be awarded by arrangement for October to December 2025 or January 2026.
Artistic works created during the scholarship are expected at the end of the residency. An exhibition of the works will take place at the Museum für Druckkunst in spring 2026. One work from the scholarship period at the Museum für Druckkunst is to be left to the museum.

The jury

The scholarship holders are selected by a jury made up of representatives of the Giesecke+Devrient Foundation and the Museum für Druckkunst. All applicants will be informed of the outcome of the jury meeting by e-mail in July. Until then, please refrain from contacting us. The names of the sponsored artists will be made public.
Legal recourse is excluded.
