Course work database summer 2026

Application deadline
to 15.05.2026

The BBK Saxony-Anhalt has been operating the “Visual Arts Database Saxony-Anhalt” since 2017. It publishes catalogs of works and estates of visual artists with a connection to Saxony-Anhalt. The work database informs the public – including curators and researchers, for example – about the life’s work of individual artists and reflects the diversity of artistic positions in Saxony-Anhalt in the growing number of directories. At the same time, it is a simple and inexpensive tool for maintaining an overview of the artworks created over the course of an artist’s life and thus makes it easier for artists themselves and those working on their behalf to record their work. It also fulfills these tasks for heirs or estate administrators. The fee-based, three-part course “Werkdatenbank Bildende Kunst Sachsen-Anhalt” teaches participants how to use the database on the basis of the scientific and editorial standards of the BBK Sachsen-Anhalt. Under professional guidance, participants create a personal data record, maintain exhibition and literature lists, learn how to use links sensibly and create data records for each individual work of art. Questions about the structure and weighting of the oeuvre will also be discussed.

In summer 2026, the BBK Saxony-Anhalt is offering a new fee-based course for artists, heirs and estate administrators under the direction of art historian Katharina Lorenz M.A., which consists of three dates:

  • Appointment 1/3: Preliminary discussion (2 hours)
  • Appointment 2/3: Course appointment (6 hours)
  • Appointment 3/3: Course appointment (6 hours)

This year, for the first time, we would like to select the exact dates and venues together with you so that as many interested parties as possible can take part. To do this, we ask you to enter your preferences in the following survey tool:

Various documents must be submitted for the application, which can be found in the conditions of participation.
