Lisa Marie Quester asks: What counts as work, and what is taken for granted? Who provides care, who is relieved of the burden, who is allowed to participate—and who is left to shoulder the responsibility alone? The artist explores the contradictions between care and isolation, solidarity and competition, connection and separation. Patriarchy and capitalism permeate these dynamics, shape our relationships, and extend even into the most everyday gestures and taken-for-granted norms. What sustains this order, and what could counteract it?
