Art for Biodiversity
Fifteen children from the Diemitz/Freiimfelde Elementary School embarked on a creative journey of discovery into the world of local insects. They observed nature, explored habitats, and captured their impressions in drawings and imaginative works of art made from natural materials. This project resulted not only in unique sketchbooks but also in new habitats for insects, which can now be discovered in the “Green Classroom” in the elementary school’s playground. With their artwork, informational signs, and the closing picnic celebrated together with their families, the children have created a visible symbol for greater biodiversity at their school. As part of the project, we tested a special format: For the first time, parents were able to gain insights into their children’s creative work through an accompanying parent module and try their hand at it themselves—something we’d like to continue.
The project was funded by the “Wir können Kunst” program of the Federal Association of Visual Artists (BBK) as part of “Kultur macht stark. Bündnisse für Bildung,” which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education, Family, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth.
