Exhibition “The Ballad of the Fallen”
To coincide with Hamburg Art Week, the gallery is opening the solo exhibition *Ballad of the Fallen* featuring the sculptor Hermann Grüneberg (*1983*). Born in Weimar, the artist first completed an apprenticeship in wood sculpture before studying sculpture and ceramics at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle from 2008 to 2015, where he was a master student under Martin Neubert. In his sculptures, he explores existential themes such as life, death, violence, and hope, which contrast with a naive, playful formal language. His most recent works deal with the fragmentation and deconstruction of the human figure and images of saints. Grüneberg is influenced by Neo-Expressionism, Art Brut, and Pop Art, and combines contemporary themes with timeless symbols. Since 2015, he has held a teaching position at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle.
