Approximately 700 new foundations are currently being established each year in Germany. Many older people donate portions of their wealth to charitable causes. But celebrities such as Henry Maske and Katharina Witt are also actively involved in helping society. In contrast, there is a wealth of projects in schools and clubs that cannot be carried out due to a lack of funding and support.
Often, this is simply because those in charge don’t know which organizations and programs fund which projects and to what extent. Some think their project isn’t interesting enough for foundations. After facing initial rejections, many lose the motivation to submit further applications. Others are put off by the jargon in grant applications; requirements like “social value” or “long-term benefit” don’t seem to fit well with a group of ten-year-olds participating in a trash-sorting marathon. This seminar is therefore specifically aimed at decision-makers in schools, support associations, and social projects. The basics of grant applications will make it easier for you to get started in the world of fundraising—and, in particular, in the world of applying for grants for your projects.
More than ten years ago, instructors Gerhard and Sabine Schwab founded a nonprofit arts and culture association, honed their expertise, and currently provide consulting services
to associations, schools, small and medium-sized businesses, and organizations. In this seminar, they provide an overview of fundraising in schools and associations, present relevant funding opportunities, and discuss in detail the standard funding practices of foundations. Using examples, they work with participants to explore which projects are a good fit for which programs.
Participants will receive a summary outlining which elements every grant application must include and which mistakes they should avoid at all costs. Using examples, they will practice using the appropriate terminology for grant applications, as well as formulating project goals and target audiences and adapting them to a potential grant application.
The flat-rate participation fee for the program and meals is €30.00 and must be paid in cash on site. This fee is payable regardless of the services you use. You will receive a receipt upon payment on site.
