A society that is no longer able to interpret and understand the systems surrounding it suffers a kind of shock that causes ever-growing sections of society to take refuge in conservative and restrictive patterns. Misogyny as a power-stabilizing practice is one of many symptoms of volatile times. The feeling of a loss of control, staged as failed masculinity, is increasingly bringing authoritarian attitudes into the social mainstream.
In its 2027 annual program, the Tyrolean Artists’ Association is dedicating itself to Thresholds exhibitions and artistic positions that highlight counter-models or counter-cultural dynamics to this conservative, anti-modern and authoritarian backlash and test alternative strategies.
