Exhibition #5: Anne Pruy at Studio SCHIMMER
On display are her abstract collages made of enameled steel, which straddle the line between painting and sculpture. The weight of the steel and the apparent lightness of the enameled sheets—which hang on the wall like paper collages—create a fascinating contrast in her works. Anne Pruy explores not only the formal but also the metaphorical relationship between surface and form in space:
“I’m interested in how forms behave in space and relate to one another—both formally and metaphorically, in relation to the social fabric: Who supports, who conceals, and what spaces emerge? Visibility, superimposition, and balance are essential concepts for me, both in terms of composition and in a social sense.”
“I work with existing outlines, with everyday observations, and with the fleeting and elusive aspects of my surroundings. Through fragmentation, scaling, and rearrangement, I create images in which visibility, superimposition, and concealment play central roles.”
