
exground filmfest in Wiesbaden is one of Germany’s most important film festivals for international, independent productions. exground filmfest is an important meeting place for guests from the film and press industry.
Many (debut) films by now world-renowned directors had their German or European premieres in Wiesbaden. To name just a few from recent years: 9 SOULS by Toshiaki Toyoda, GERRY by Gus Van Sant, THE THREE BURIALS OF MELQUIADES ESTRADA by Tommy Lee Jones, NOKAN – DIE KUNST DES AUSKLANGS by Yojiro Takita, SOMEWHERE TONIGHT by Michael Di Jiacomo, GANTZ 2: PERFECT ANSWER by Shinsuke Sato, AFTER LUCIA by Michel Franco and BETHLEHEM by Yuval Adler.
Guests in Wiesbaden included German Federal Film Prize winner Oskar Roehler, Oscar winner Les Bernstein, Katja Esson (nominated for an Oscar), Susan Emshwiller (screenwriter of POLLOCK), Adam Green with his debut film GEMSTONES CRACKIN’, New Wave icon Anne Clark as well as German stars Josefine Preuß, Simon Gosejohann, Dietrich Brüggemann and Axel Ranisch, Sophie Linnenbaum and Aylin Tezel.
Supporting events such as workshops, exhibitions, concerts, readings, parties and panel discussions round off the exground filmfest program.
