FRAU* schafft Raum is a hybrid of a memorial site and an art space. For the artistic programming of the former tobacco shop, the theme of “femicide” will be the focus in connection with the history of the site. Women* artists are invited to submit exhibition concepts that thematically address femicide, violence against women*, women’s* rights as human rights, solidarity, and empowerment. The current call covers the period from January 2027 to December 2028. Four exhibition concepts will be selected. Each exhibition will run for approximately 24 weeks. The exhibitions will be on view around the clock and accessible to visitors during the day. An opening reception will be organized for each exhibition.
The call is primarily aimed at female artists* from various fields of the visual arts, but transdisciplinary projects and (combined) works in the performing arts may also be submitted. The minimum requirement is a completed degree from an art university or college of art and at least 3 years of relevant, regular experience as an artist*; or 8 years of exhibition activity (without a college degree).
A flat-rate exhibition fee (including material, transportation, and travel costs) of €2,500 gross (including any applicable VAT) is provided by the NuDo4 association for the exhibitions. A project may also be submitted jointly by several female artists*; in this case, the fee is shared among the artists*.
