TEXTILE AND DESIGN ALLIANCE – ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

TaDA – Textile and Design Alliance is accepting applications for its Artist-in-Residence Program in Arbon, Switzerland, for either April through June 2027 or September through November 2027. TaDA – Textile and Design Alliance is a cultural promotion program of the cantons of St. Gallen, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, and Thurgau. It fosters experimental and innovative engagement with the textile and design culture of Eastern Switzerland and is carried out in collaboration with textile companies based in the region. Each year, TaDA offers six national and international artists a residency in Switzerland. The residents develop projects in the fields of art, design, architecture, literature, the performing arts, or in interdisciplinary contexts. As program partners, textile companies and institutions from Eastern Switzerland provide expertise and technology. This gives the residents the opportunity to carry out practical artistic work and applied research. The partners, in turn, benefit from creative exchange with the invited artists. The results of this work are presented to the public at various events.

The residency is intended for international creatives and artists from all disciplines who have demonstrated an interest in the textile industry, textile culture, and sustainability.

Benefits: Shared apartment in Arbon; workspace in the former Saurer AG textile and engine factory; coverage of travel expenses; contribution toward living expenses; professional guidance and networking opportunities with 12 partner companies and organizations; selective access to their infrastructure; and individualized professional support from textile designer Martin Leuthold, the TaDA team, and external experts as needed.

Application deadline: August 12, 2026
