Rebecca Hilser

Rebecca Hilser’s exhibition “Narrative Characters” is on view at the BBKarium Halle. She combines textile techniques with drawing and painterly methods to create multi-layered visual worlds. Fabric, thread, paint, and embroidery become independent creative tools in this process and develop a unique visual language.

In her work “Aufbruchsstimmung” (2023), Hilser combines silk, crepe, dyeing, and embroidery into a large-scale textile composition. Areas of color, textures, and embroidered elements oscillate between concrete form and abstraction.
The artist is particularly interested in the boundary between perception and abstraction. Forms are altered, condensed, and partially dissolved. This creates open pictorial spaces that allow for different associations and personal interpretations. As with her “Kumulosen Bilderwelten,” the same principle applies: Everyone sees something different.
