The SÍM Residency is an international, nonprofit residency program in Reykjavík, Iceland, for contemporary artists and cultural practitioners, run by SÍM – The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists. It is the largest and most established residency program in the Nordic region, welcoming around 200 artists from across the world each year.
Our mission is to provide a platform for artistic development, interdisciplinary exchange, and cultural dialogue by connecting international artists with the Icelandic art scene. The residency offers artists a sustainable working and living environment that fosters reflection, experimentation, and creative collaboration.
Participants gain access to private and shared studios, public presentation opportunities, and engagement with the local artistic community through a structured yet flexible program designed to support diverse practices and research interests.
Artists can choose to join the residency programme from one up to three months at once.
